Description
Participants will learn about the nervous system in simple terms, and gain insights on their own individual autonomic nervous system blueprint. Much of the information is informed by Polyvagal theory, created by Dr. Stephen Porges. Participants will then be guided through creative exercises working with painting and other medians that illustrates their own responses in the nervous system. This is a way to become closer to oneself and our personal experiences. We move out of the head, into the heart, and onto the paper.
“Neuroscience research shows that the only way we can change the way we feel is becoming aware of our inner experience and learning to befriend what is going on inside ourselves” – Bessel Van Der Kolk.
What to expect:
– Deep insights into the science of the nervous system and its role in emotional well-being
– Guided art therapy session with paint and other materials that promote introspection and self-expression
– Mindfulness and grounding exercise to connect with your body and mind
– A supportive and nurturing environment to share, learn, and grow
– Sharing exercises to help integrate the insights
